School

Most of you probably already know that school started up again this Monday. I was kinda dreading it, but once the first day was over with, I was convinced that this is going to be an awesome semester! My classes are so awesome!

1st hour is Creative Writing, with Mrs. Devereux (Deh-vur-oh). She seems like she's going to be a really fun teacher! She's sarcastic all the time, and she is always saying funny stuff. Plus she always plays Disney songs in the background. She was joking around that, by the end of the semester, we'll be able to name every Disney song within the first two beats. We also go these journal things where she gives you a topic, and you write for about 10 minutes about it. It's always fun, because it gets your mind going first thing in the morning.

2nd hour is American Sign Language, with Ms. Staback (Stay-back). She's also really funny. She kinda reminds me of my old Spanish Teacher, Ms. Van Atta. One thing that I really like about her is that she lets us kinda teach ourselves. Instead of sitting there saying this sign means this word, she'll just start signing, and keep signing the same thing and mouthing the words until we understand what she's saying. It's a lot more interesting, and it really gets your brain going. We've only been in the class for two days and we already know the alphabet, how to say "How are you?", and quite a few of the emotions, such as; hungry, tired, okay, happy, awful, etc. It was fun - we walked around the classroom to different people and just had conversations with them.

3rd hour is Chemistry, with Mr. Manor (May-ner "With a long A" as he says). This is definitely the funniest class by far, but not because of the actual subject. The class itself is actually kinda boring - Mr. Manor is a smidge bit strange and monotonous. The real reason it's funny is because there are only 13 people. Small class, right? Just wait. 11 of those 13 people are guys. My friend Megan and I are the ONLY girls! It was a little awkward on the first day, because I walked in and there are all these guys sitting there. I literally said "Oh, crap" when I saw that I was the only girl. So I sat down, and for like 5 minutes I was the only one! But, finally, right as the bell rang, Megan walked in. What a relief! I'm just glad the other girl is someone I'm friends with, and not a complete stranger, or someone I don't get along with.

5th hour is FTA, with Mrs. Rizer at Sunrise Mountain. It's a little bit stressful to have to rush over there after lunch, but we usually get there on time - as long as the guys unlock the gates. They forgot to open them yesterday, so I had to go out through the office and walk all the way around to my car. I was only about 5 minutes late though - no biggie! Anyway, I'm really excited for this class! Mrs. Rizer is really sweet! We're going to be in the classroom for about 5 weeks, and then, starting on September 16th we'll be leaving campus to go help out in a classroom for one of the elementary schools ever Tuesday and Wednesday. We get to choose the teachers we want to TA for, so I'm hoping I can go with my 7th and 8th grade Language teacher, Mrs. Svancara. I'm still waiting for her to email me back to see if I'll be able to, but I don't think there'll be a problem with it. I'm just excited to be able to work with the kids and help out with stuff.
