The Lincoln-Kennedy Connection

In History today, we filled out a paper having to do with the commonalities of Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy's assassinations. It's insane how similar they are! It's pretty interesting to see how history really does repeat itself, though. I thought this was pretty cool.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress on 1946.

Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were concerned with civil rights.
Both of their wives lost a child while living in the White House.

Lincoln's Secretary was names Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Just wait... It gets better...

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by a Southerner named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their full name.
Both names are composed of 15 letters.

and better...

Lincoln was shot in the theatre named Ford.
Kennedy was shot in a car named Lincoln made by Ford.

Lincoln was shot in a theatre and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theatre.

Oswald and Booth were assassinated before their trials.
Kennedy and Lincoln were both shot in the back of the head.

and the grand finale (my personal favorite)...

One week before Lincoln was killed, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
One week before Kennedy was killed, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
If I was the next person to run for the election in 2060, I'd be scared out of my wits. Especially if my vice president was born last year. It's scary how alike these assassinations are.

Birthday

Yesetrday, my birthday was definitely one of the most entertaining ones I've had yet. I woke up to some suprises from Natalie. The pictures below are in order of how I found them.
I opened my door to find this. It confused me for only a few seconds, but then I realized why it was there.

Birthdays are definitely more interesting when you've got a sister living with you again - no offense, Mom and Dad!

THANK YOU NATALIE!!!

I got a total of 9 honks yesterday. But I'm gonna try to leave the words on until tuesday, so that number might change.

So yeah, my birthday morning was pretty much amazing, and it only got better from there. There was one more writing-on-the-mirror, but I haven't gotten a picture yet - plus everyone would probably run away screaming if they saw how messy my room was, so I think I'll just save everyone from that. Anyway, after I got ready and all that, my mom and I went shopping. I found a cute dress that I was going to get, but ended up not getting it. We're gonna go out to Mesa or Chandler on Monday to see what else we can find, though, since we don't have school. Then, Stephen and I went to the mall, Baskin Robbins, and Party City for a bit - this is where we got the 9 honks. I didn't hear some of them, so it's a good thing Stephen did. It was so much fun.

At about 4, I came home and opened presents. I got an AMAZING giant orange pen, which Kolsen enjoyed, 2 movies (Radio and Newsies), 3 bottles of perfume (Sweet Pea, Sensual Amber, and Mango Mandarin), some new red sheets for my bed, and a gift certificate, which said that I was going to get thee roof liner in my car replaced. My parents revised it and said that I could choose between that or a new iPod. So, of course, I chose the iPod - my roof doesn't bother me that much anymore, and my iPod doesn't even last for ten minutes off of the charger. After dinner at AH-SO, which was extremely fun, by the way, we went to Walmart to get it. I was only expecting to get a Nano or something, but when we got there, my dad was pushing for me to get an iPod Touch. So yeah, I'm now the owner of a new iPod Touch! WOOHOO! Thank you Mom and Dad!!! I love you!!!

I just want to say a quick thanks to everyone who made my birthday so much fun. I think this may be my all-time-favorite, so far, which I wasn't expecting. So thanks SO MUCH to everyone who made it happen.

Gotta Love Dry Ice!

We ordered some mice for the snakes last week, and the box just came yesterday - chalk full of dry ice! Of course we had to mess around with it. Kolsen and Lexi thought it was so much fun. The first couple of pictures are rpetty whimpy, but they get better as they go on. Enjoy! :)
