We got a wheaton terrier yesterday. We haven't named him yet because we might not even keep him. He is really shy with people, but he works really well with other dogs. And every time you try to pick him up, he starts squealing like you're trying to kill him. But we've kinda been ignoring him [because we read somewhere that you should ignore them if they're shy and let them come to you] and he seems to be getting a little bit better. He'll come up to us and start smelling us, but he wont let us pet him yet. He also would hesitate really bad when coming into the house. He'll now only hesitate if someone is standing there. If no one is there then he'll just walk right in. And he would always go straight under the table or anywhere on the tile, but he's converted to the very very edge of the carpet. So, he's getting a little better. With time, we hope he'll get used to us.
